An Overlooked Contrast Between Peter the apostle and the Roman Catholic Pope

Why the Pope is  a mistaken identity for Peter?

New Picture (61)

Before I continue with my post, I would like to explain to followers of Catholic religion that my intent for sharing the truth of the scripture is to help them see what I have realized , having been raised formerly from that native religion (Gal 4:16) . I do not intend that  this post be offensive to all Catholics who were at the heights of celebrating their new leadership. I only wish that Catholics should examine their faith and how they all started. The doctrine concerning papacy, being traced with Peter, should be examined. And if you will observe, Roman Catholic priests and ministers have long been propagating errors  and against the word of God and I think they also deserved to be cross-examined, because not all agreed to their teachings, foremost,  on the topic “Papacy”.

Many  Roman Catholics knew that their claim for the pope’s position is likened and claimed as it was of Peter, being among the pillar in the leadership of disciples during the earthly ministry of Christ. But, only few Catholics know that the pope is the mistaken identity for Peter if it concerns scriptural accounts.  It was not surprising because  they do not fully bow to  the word of God but to tradition. But I think that those who followed Roman Catholicism deserves to know and deserves to examine the Scriptures themselves, because ignoring the truth of the Scriptures is lethal to their spiritual life before God.

If pope , according to Roman Catholic teachings, is followed to Peter the apostle, as they say that he is the first pope (Mt. 16:18), they should see this comparison if it is confirming or contrasting.

Peter:  Was chosen by Christ and no fellow disciples chose him as a leader, or as an apostle.

Pope:  was chosen by cardinals

Peter: was never called the visible head of  church, neither of Rome, he didn’t named the church as Roman Catholic

Pope: the pope was claimed as the visible head of the church

Peter: He can be rebuked by another apostle

Gal 2:11  But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.

Pope: Can the pope be rebuked by another pope when in fact they only have one? Would the pope accept rebuked from his cardinals or fellow priest?

Peter: has  a wife

Mat 8:14  And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever.

Paul said an apostle has a right

1Co 9:5  Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

Pope: was forbidden to have one

Peter: Commits mistake, many of them

Pope: Declared by Catholic councils as infallible

Peter: He has no titles as pope or as vicar

Pope: claimed as the vicar of Christ and many things

Peter: is not the only pillar in leadership

at  Gal 2:9  And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

Pope: the sole leader of Roman Catholic church

Peter: He is a Jew

Pope: Some are Jewish, some are Gentiles

Peter: ministry is unto the Jews , not to pagans or Gentiles

Gal 2:7  But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;

Gal 2:8  (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)

 Pope: head the Gentile leadership

Peter: believes in God the Creator

1Pe 4:19  Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Pope: believes in Evolution

Peter: was never addressed as Holy Father, it is unto God alone (John 17:11)

Mat 23:9  And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Pope: addressed as Holy Father

Peter: has some difficulties understanding Paul’s letters

Mat 23:9  And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Pope: has claims to understand all revelation from God

Peter: had seen the risen Christ

Apostles had to be eyewitnesses of the resurrected Christ.

Peter and all apostles were eyewitnesses (Acts 2:32; 3:15; 4:33; 5:32; 10:39-41; 1 Cor. 15:4-8).This is important for succession especially in apostleship. When Judas  was replaced, those who replaced him must have these qualifications (Acts 1:22)

Pope: did not have any of those according to scriptures.

Peter didn’t prayed ROSARY. He understood it’s pharisaic and condemned by Christ

Mat 23:14  Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

Mat 6:7  But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Pope: prays the rosary

Peter: does not bow to the gods of pagans, or to idols or images.

Show me that Peter the apostle observes ‘paganism’ or bows and prays to idols or images. You can neither present that Peter is teaching against the first and second commandments

Pope: he bows and prays to idols or images they believed as saints

Peter: is against  the traditions of man but favor God’s word

Act 5:29  Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Act 4:19-20  But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

Pope: Teaches traditions even if against God’s word

Peter: was imprisoned, and as an apostle, he did not accused anybody and sued them unto imprisonment

Popes: never experienced being imprisoned. Historic records showed that they imprisoned and persecuted many who come against Roman Catholic teachings.

If the pope is not obedient to the Jesus of the scripture, then he is following another Jesus (2Co 11:4) and the church he claimed to be in leadership is also questionable. I wish that the pope and all Catholics would learn the importance of the word of God and truly obey it not just in part but as a whole.

Luk 6:46  And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

  1. Deuteronomy 34:9 says “Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the LORD had commanded Moses”
Acts 6:6 “They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them” –
Dear friend, you have worked so much, congrats. Please consider the following also.
According to the Bible, God has chosen individuals and has given authority to proclaim and guide his men though HIs way. Even if there were written laws, authority was transferred from people to people. This fact can be seen from Abraham to Moses to David and continues in the New testament also. To identify Jesus, his genealogy, was needed, so to Identify the true followers of – The God of Abraham, God of Isaac and The God of Jacob – unbroken human succession is helpful. Please calm down. Let God reveal to you, the uniqueness of Apostolic churches. God bless you
