‘Christmas’ Angels

Why do we have to be cautious in believing Angels?

Psa 104:4  Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:

Angels are messengers of God to accomplish His will. They  play some  very important role especially concerning the birth of Christ. They were among the special mentioned this Christmas celebration.  Many books were written concerning them, and many beliefs as a result. They were being portrait as one of  God’s special  creation, and some are good while some are bad angels. But even if they were historically used by God to bring you good tidings , there are some warnings concerning them.

Before and after the accounts  surrounding the birth of Christ, we can see some of their intervention and appearances,

         Before the birth of  John the Baptizer, to Zacharias (Lk.1:11-20;

         Annunciation to Mary  (Lk.1:26-38)

         To Joseph, Mary’s husband  (Mt.1:20; 2:13, 19)

         To Shepherds (Lk.2:8-15)

We are told  to entertain strangers, for some could have been angels (Heb 13:2). But we are warned from believing any gospel from them this age of grace. Why?

Gal 1:8”But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”

Believers were warned from believing angels because they are not the one entrusted by God for the gospel of the grace of God TODAY. But if you will observe, some religious groups claiming to be the only religious organization from God, have claims that an angel from above was seen by them. Some claimed they are the “angel” or messenger from God, and some claimed that an angel sent them. But even if you have seen a true angel, whatever message from them should not be listened to as the scripture tells us in Gal.1:8, you will be accursed. We have the gospel today (1 Co.15:3-4) and no angel is needed to preach a new one.

The time for angel to preach is not yet in schedule.

Rev 14:6 ”And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,”

After the tribulation, there will be the good news from that angels.

Because the angels, including the one in Rev.7, is not part of God’s dispensation concerning the body of Christ today.

Some angels will try to separate believers from the love of God.

Rom 8:38-39 ”For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Satan masqueraded as an ‘angel of light’

2Co 11:14-15 ”And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”His words seemed to appear as a blazing and burning truth that blinds those whom he deceived.(2 Co.4:4). And the devil is an angel too, and has angels (Mt.25:41), and according to the above verse, he has ministers too. You can see Satanic groups, new agers-as among angelic followers.

Angels will kill, steal ,and destroy you

John 10:10  “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy...:”

And because Satan, the angel but an enemy of God is  likened unto a thief, these are all his plans for mankind. He sneaks, looks around , to see who can be his victim (1 Peter 5:8).

In fact, he has captivated many

2Ti 2:26  And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Eph 2:2  Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Angels are deceiving in appearance and desires worship

Col 2:18 ”Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,”

They will distract people, will show their beauty, just to sway you. Historically, this is what Satan desired (Isa.14:12-14) to create a following. They have many followers nowadays. (I’ve watched the movie “The 18th Angel” way back in 1998. See this mathematical equation why it is 18 ( 6+6+6= ?). Does it have no relevance on Revelation 13:13-18? The end of the movie says that  “someday, Satan will return not as a beast but as a beauty”.) I don’t  intend to scare you

Angels are not the ‘Means’ but the ‘Recipients’ of witness.

Believers were warned from believing angels because they are not the ones entrusted by God with the gospel of grace TODAY. It is because angels were not part of Gods’ dispensation concerning the body of Christ. Unlike when it is God’s kingdom program which is to Israel, we can see that angels were among the means of ordaining it (Gal.3:19) and heralding it. But in God’s purpose through the ‘body of Christ’, the church is being used by God to testify to those in heavenly places, where the angels are, concerning the manifold wisdom of God. The reason why we, believers, are now serving as witnesses to them concerning what God is doing..

EPH 3:10 “To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,”

This Christmas season, if you think that angels can decorate your homes, and their appearance and messages are not dangerous, at least, you are reminded here.

Eph 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
