Widows are commonly the victim of neglect and abuse, not only in the society, but in churches so called (Acts 6:1).This is an appeal to those children and relatives of widows, who would someday will become widows and widowers. Why it is needful to consider these things? Why do you have to act now and consider what can you do for them?

 1 Ti 5:5  Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and  continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.

Aging has different course of adjustment in life, and the worst thing could be losing the one who’s always at your side. Scriptures tells us of this age for widows to be considered in congregation (1 Tim.5:9). I believe that this is the time where most adjustments in the book of Ecclesiastes is starting to  be experienced (Ecc.12:3-6), some even to an early date. Here is what Paul wrote concerning them

1Ti 5:10  Well reported of for good works;

 if she have brought up children,

if she have lodged strangers,

 if she have washed the saints’ feet,

 if she have relieved the afflicted,

 if she have diligently followed every good work.

On the contrary, there are also widows who have bad reports, who caused others to suffer and be afflicted, who didn’t bear any children or met what was said in verse 10. There were those who lived in pleasure (1 Tim.5:6) and cast off their faith (1 Tim.5:13). They also have thiese examples;

1Ti 5:13  And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

But why do the members of His body, the church, have to give worth to their widows? Here are some lists.

1). God commanded it: {the words used are honor‐5:3; let them learn to requite ‐5:4 ;charge‐ 5:7}

1Ti 5:4  But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.

2). To  please God (1 Tim.5:4). We have to do what is acceptable to Him.

3). That you may be blameless

1Ti 5:7  And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.

4). To learn

1Ti 5:4  But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.

5). To prove your faith

1Ti 5:8  But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

6.) To cause no burden for the church

1Ti 5:16  If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.

 7.) To give you good harvest someday

Gal 6:7  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

This is because someday you will be repaid with the good that you have shared.

But ministering for widows is not a girl thing only  (Acts 6:3‐5).

But in what ways you can show it to them?

What you can do for your Widows

1). Visit them {Santiago 1:27} or be with them

2).Repay them with good, care for them,show your love  {1Ti 5:4;10}

3).Give for their sake: {1Ti 5:16}

4).Honor them: {1Ti 5:3}

5).Accommodate for their stay {1Ti 5:4;10}

6). Understand them : Ecc.12 {1Ti 5:4;10} i

7).Support or help their caregivers

8). Pray for them, not to die soon, but to live a meaningful life

 Widows, and widowers too, are part of our society, part of our life, of who we are. While some of you are thinking about the value of widows in a society, rather than thinking on their inability to be more productive today, why not look back on the years of old when all their strength is given up, just to lift you up, and make you who you are today? Here’s why you have to think of your availability for them. They are waiting.

Gal 6:9  And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
